Rear disc conversion... can I just gut the proportioning valve

Gents,

Did a rear disc conversion on my car a while ago. Realized that I never changed over the proportioning valve to a disk/disk setup so I did that.

I bought a disc/disc valve from Summit. (CPP brand). Put it in the car and went to bleed the system. Couldnt get any fluid out of the rear calipers.

Pulled the PV only to find out that the slide valve closed the rear port due to pressure difference. So, I bought the valve tool (holds the internal slide valve in place so it doesn't move) , reinstalled PV valve and tried to bleed system. Still no fluid from the rear calipers.

So, I got pissed and yanked off the disc/disc valve.

My car originally came with a Kelsey Hayes style combination valve. The proportioning part is located in the rear of the valve but its orientated in the 12-6 o' clock position. I took that plug out and removed the guts and put the plug back in.

As far as I understand, this should make the proportioning part of the combo valve non existent now. I am planning on putting a APV in the rear line to adjust rear brake pressure.

Does this sound correct in what I did?

Hopefully someone will chime in and guide me in the right direction.

Thanks!

Chris
