Radio faceplate/Burgundy

I've got an 85 SS that I'm converting over to the
DIN 1/2 stereo. I have the SS faceplate from an
86-88 SS, but it's black. I've noticed that the Regal
faceplate is a little different style and comes in colors
like gray. Was there an 86-88 Regal that came with
the Burgundy interior? If not I'm sure I could dye
whatever one I could find. I'm assuming it would fit
over the pod like the one I bought for the 86-88 to
fit my 85.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Larry.

Yes they did.

My 87 turbo t has the burgandy intierior. I think that all 84 - 87 regals came with black trim plates with shale (gray) or woodgrain boarders around them. You can paint your trimplate any color you want. I did one a while back. I had to mask off the areas that i did not want to paint witch was time consuming but when I finished it turned out very nice. Make sure that you lightly sand or scuff the surface before painting and use a good primer and paint that is made for plastic. I have a din and 1/2 also in my car and it looks great. Check it out at my web page.

brittken,
That's it! The Regals faceplate looks so much better
than the one for the SS. That's the look I'm going for,
stock appearing.
One other question, does yours have a bracket for the
screws at the bottom of the faceplate? I've got the side
brackets but nowhere to attach the screws at the bottom.
Thanks, Larry.

answer

My trim plate holds on to the dash with metal clips that snap into the dash. There is no screws that hold the trim plate to the dash. I had to use my stock stereo brackets to mount my din and a half pioneer cd player to the dash. Those brackets do screw into the sides of the stereo compartment. I imagine it would be the same for all the g-body cars. By the way did you check out my web page?

Yeh I did. That's where i saw how "stock" it would look
with the Regal faceplate. I'll see what I can figure out
with some clips to hold the bottom in. The top uses the
original holes.
Thanks you've been a big help!
Larry.
