If anyone is interested in a race track, Spokane Raceway Park, with it's drag strip, circle track and road track will be auctioned off on April 10th.

What really sucks is that if a non racer person/group buys it that will end our racing. There's an indian casino next door to it and I've heard they want to put up a hotel and a golf course.

So anyone here interested? Got deep pockets? Good credit? (Wives or girlfriends are accepted in trade.)

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but..........EVERYTIME a track goes up for sale, it's bought by a carpet bagger opps....ummm I mean a developer who will then tear it down and flattin it and build condos/new homes. In this case though you can bet your bottom dollar that casino will snatch it up. Either way you should start looking for another track to play at. :(

I didn't give you all the info on the sale. The 3 tracks are located on a section of land right on the outskirts of Spokane. That's 640 acres. They're dividing up the sale into 3 pieces....the piece that holds the tracks, a separate piece that has a working gravel pit on it, and the rest. Hopefully the Indians would be interested in the bare piece with nothing on it and that would leave the tracks piece and the gravel pit piece.

We still have our fingers crossed that the Indians would buy the bare piece as I said, but then if they built a hotel and a golf course they certainly wouldn't want dragsters racing on the piece beside it every Saturday. I know they have money to burn but buying the full thing would be VERY expensive since it's only a few miles from a major city.

Another very interested party is the county. 10 years ago they RENTED some land across from the track and built a prison. Typical government, RENTING land in order to put a couple of million dollars into a prison building complex. So with the lease almost up they're interested in BUYING the land and putting up another prison. They've also said if they buy it they'd continue running the tracks. That sounds good but eternal pessimist that I am, I wonder if it's just posturing (expressing interest in vacating the present prison) in order to get a better future lease on the present one.

Then of course there's me. But somehow I suspect my $22.50 bid won't be enough. :D I do think I'll attend the auction though and if no one else shows up I'll buy a track real cheap.
