Qestion on fuel pump wires in trunk

The trunk wiring harness has 3 different connections going to it. I have been troubleshooting some electrical issues and this is one I have a question about. Two of the connectors have multiple wires and the third has only one wire. I read to check this to make sure 1 of the 2 multiwire connectors was not plugged in backwards. When I opened the trunk I noticed that the 3rd (single wire) connecter was not plugged in at all. So I started looking at things and noticed that even if I did plug it in, the wire would not make connection to the harness. The single wire connector has 3 possible connections both in plug and harness. The harness connection is closest to the middle of the harness. While the plugs wire connection is in the middle. So even if I did plug it in, it would make no connection. Is this correct? Or did I just confuse everyone who read this lol

Pretty much.
Maybe an explanation of the wiring colors would go a long way toward an answer......
