I have scientific proof that loud music will lower a persons IQ.
Take my case study subject, we will call him "dude".
"dude" Ims me today, asking for help on car audio. Im bored, so I have every intention of sitting here and trying to help him out. The end result, as you will see, is my proof. (did I mention I want the last half hour of my life back?)

dude: : hay u know anything about car audio i need some help please
Jason: i know some things, it depends....
Jason: whats the problem?
dude: well i am trin to connect pa horns to my system
dude: so the voice is projected
dude: ppl do it al the time back home
dude: but i dont know how to reduce the wattage
dude: the horns max is 35 watts
dude: the sterieos min if 50
dude: plus i need to only run mids to tha horn
dude: any i deas
dude: ?
Jason: yeah. dont use pa horns. not good for your car stereo deck, they run more resistance than your deck is designed to handle
Jason: typical car speakers run 4 ohms, but PA equipment is generally 8 or more
dude: yyea
dude: then what would i use to project the voice
Jason: depends on what youre trying to do with your system
dude: or is there a way to convert ohm loard
dude: loads
dude: i know it can be done
dude: ppl do it in new o all day
Jason: there is, but youre still not gonna get a good sound out of pa horns in your car
dude: its to make ya here my vocals bout a half mile away
dude: not in
dude: under the hood
dude: not for my listening pleaseure 4 the public
dude: my slstem sounds dam good in the car but not down tha street all u can here down the street is the subs
Jason: well, what kind of car?
dude: oldsmoble cutlasss supreme
dude: trunk is stuffed
dude: 3 12"s and 1 10"
dude: 12"for the real low lows n 10" 4 fast response lows
dude: 2500 watts to the 12"900 to the 10"
dude: back deck has 6 6*9s and 3 3" tweeters
dude: doors have 6" triaxls
dude: n thay run off a 500 watt high out put amp
dude: with a filter to black lows
dude: block
dude: so do u know what i need to convert ohm loads?
Jason: well, you can run more speakers in parallel to decrease the resistance
Jason: if the drivers are 8 ohms each, you can run two off each channel in parallel to get a 4 ohm load
Jason: it depends on the load of your drivers and what your gonna run them with can handle
dude: i am only gona use 2 so i should run both off 1 channel okok and what about reduceing the wattage?
dude: i need to cut it i hald
dude: half
Jason: if you run filters on them to block out lows, you can run the higher wattage without damage
Jason: horns arent designed to produce lows
Jason: but if you eliminate the lows, they will handle a lot more
dude: ok
dude: thanks man
Jason: no problem
Jason: good luck
dude: thanx

At first I thought he was messing with me, but I think, sadly, hes serious!
I actually feel dumber because of this conversation.

Priceless

Spending too much time on the Buick board "just trying to help"; good use of time.
Getting into what you thought was a "helpful" conversation; satisfying.
Finding out that the "dude" on the other end is beyond help; priceless...

Been there, had to deal with the "dudes" before too.
When I worked in a shop, those are the guys that made my salesmen come back to the install bay and bang their heads against the wall.

A 12, and 3 10s...Thats just ignorant. That and triaxials tell you he is a flea market /swap meet buyer.
$1 says nothing is the same brand, and I know people gotta learn, but someone in this dudes community needs to SHOW him a real system....not just a rolling P.A...
btw, does P.A. stand for Pitiful Attempt?!
