President Bush in Iraq today

You can bet that where every he is having dinner at in Iraq that it is the safest place to be in Iraq today.

funny, I flipped between fox news and CNN. Fox is saying that it is a great boost for morale and CNN reports it, then reports how Hillary is in Afghanistan and says they are fighting a losing battle, then CNN goes back to the Bush story, says they didn't think he met with troops (admitted they had no clue) and said that he has to be careful flying around in a helicopter there because they are shot down with some frequency. I guess 3 or 4 choppers shot down during the entire war, there must have been what?......6 helicopters in the country that all flew 1 sortie each???

Someone tell Hillary her husband fought the losing battle to help cause 9-11. He did nothing , allowing these people to think they could get away with what they did.....and they were right. Fight it THERE or fight it HERE. At least THERE we can have professionals fighting them, rather than innocent civilians dying here.....

I don't watch CNN (DNN Democratic New Network) anymore.
Almost like listening to NPR.

That is wonderful that the President is giving a moral booster to the troops. Regardless if you are for the war or not. I don't know why Hillary is in Afghanistan they can not vote for her in the next election. Maybe she is apologizing for her husbands (her) previous foreign policy misgivings.

Does not surprise me. But what a class deal. I had a feeling he would go to Iraq, and to do it on this day... just more to show this man is the man for the job.

Man talk about a secret trip. You know that place was crawling with security measures.

Way to go!!! That made my Thanksgiving Day.

You're right about CNN.. man they will make anything sound bad.

Seems it's really scary to some people when you have a real man with common sense for a leader. Maybe a lot of Democrats are just afraid for their jobs.........and rightfully so. While support for President Bush is extensive, the left wing controlled news media keeps on distorting the real picture. Hillary is in Afganistan? Really, who cares.........Senators and Congressman have been visiting the war zone for months. She's nobody special. Let her run next November and you'll see just how nobody she is.

President was in Phoenix on tuesday 2 miles from where I work.
Secret Service were everywhere. I drove by some protesters but I was in a company vehicle so I could not express my anger to them.

I dunno if I am a Democrat or Republican...but I tell you this. Having the Commander-in-Chief drop in a combat zone and serve the troops some food is a real class act. And these 600 guys were real troops...not all Colonels and above.

Happy Thanksgiving all.

Bob

I was watching NBC this am when they broke in with the news that Bush had flown in to have dinner with the troops. I thought that was about the coolest thing that I can remember a President doing in a time like this. Especially since Iraq is still a hostile and nasty place to be.

Awesome stuff!!

Joel

great support

I liked seeing President Bush over there for thanksgiving, that shows he really cares and supports the troops. Way to go!!!! He is showing the world he is not scared.
:D

PS. He will get my vote!

Heard on the news that this operation was TOTALLY top secret; only 6 people knew about the trip. Pres. Bush's FAMILY didn't even have a clue!

As for him visiting the "safest place in Iraq" is concerned .... last i heard Baghdahd (sp?) isn't quite "safe" yet. DON'T take n e thing away from this unprecedented visit... it was a high risk action!

Apparently if the slightest press leak regarding this trip happened, they woulda turned the plane around. Imagine how much one of those Terrorists would'a liked a chance to shoot down Pres. Bush's plane ....

WOW is all i can say.

President in Iraq

Wonder if our president came upon any weapons of mass destruction or biological weapons that were supposedly our reason for being there in the first place? Its nice that he flew into a war zone to visit the troops, to bad he did'nt have the huevos to fly into a war zone in Vietnam, when he was actually eligible to fight for his country! Oh thats right, Texas air national guard was never called up for the big one back then!

Hmmm, born 7/6/46, a year after "The Big One". I guess that's why they didn't call him up.

As I'm sure many would say... doesn't matter. Saddam's out.. and President Bush found a nice place for Thanksgiving dinner.

This man has got to be the BIGGEST target in the world. For him to walk right into the belly of the beast with that kind of risk involved tells me he's got a pretty big set...

I've been reading all mornig about the secrecy and what was involved in pulling this caper off. I have to say... he is no fool, he knows how dangerous this was... but he put for that effort for our troops over there. As someone said.. CLASS ACT.

Now of course, you will have Democrats being critical of this visit for whatever they can pull out of their butts, but let there be no mistake; he won a lot of support with THIS stop on his campaign trail. I guess you could say it was a real important state. :)

Way to go GW!

John, the individual definition of "Big One" is the one I or YOU were in...

Could be Grenada, Panama, or WW2.

I understand lager68's frustration...believe me I have the same. With a draft number of 36 in 1968 I certainly knew my immediate future. With all the rich kids in the Guard, or in college at Oxford, the brunt of VN effort (the Big One in my book) fell on the unlucky population with low draft numbers.

Many will and should be critical of George being a rich kid joy riding thru the Texas sky in F102's instead of dodging AAA in the VN sky in an A4.

Nevertheless...

Yesterday's trip increased the morale of the 600 he met and the rest of our forces all over the world...and that's what it's about for me....doing the most you can for them.

For that, I applaud and thank George.

Is serving in the Texas air national guard somehow disgraceful or cowardly? I don't think so. I spent 3 years in the Navy during the Vietnam war. I was pretty sure nobody was going to shoot at me so does that mean I don't have any balls?

You must be with the crowd that was OK with putting the womanizing draft dodger into the presidency. Too bad he couldn't have another term, right?

I think it is great that the President went over there, as hostile as it still is, he shows up and does not even sit down, he stands and dishes out food to the soldiers. That says allot in my book, i cannot even think how 9-11 would have been without him. He has my vote again!!!!:)

Hillary Clinton give it a break, she needs to go get laid. :D

Randy, Randy, Randy............truth hurts, don't it? You'll never get it. :(

Socialism is alive and well in Europe. They'll welcome you with open arms. ;)

Pres. Bush is a hero to me for doing this, as well I'm sure for the troops in the zone, what a morale booster!!. Just my 02's worth.
