What will cause the error code 42? I switched out my ignition module to make sure that was good and it was. I checked the ground on the engine and that is tight. I don't know what else it would be. When i recheck the ground it cleared the code and made two nice passes then it came right back on and the car started breaking up again.

this is from GNTTYPE.org
Typical causes for this code include:
1) BYPASS line is open or grounded
2) EST line is open or grounded
3) PROM or CALPACK not seated properly in the ECM
4) Poor connections between ignition module and ECM
5) Poor routing of EST harness and/or poor quality ignition wires (EMI induced electrical noise)
6) Faulty or incorrect ignition module
7) Faulty ECM
check for broken or loose wires, sometimes its the simple crap that drives me crazy!

Based on your description I would pick #4 in the previous post.
The signals causing code 42 go through the CCCI ignition module connector and the ecm connector. I would look closely at the pins on both. As you tighten the screw on the ignition module cable, push on each side of the connector to make sure the pins are seated properly.
