Would it be better to buy the TV made EZ kit for 100 bucks or to buy a universal cable, make my own bracket, and buy a geometry corrector braket for my holley. Is it too difficult to setup if you do it on your own? Does it matter where the end of the cable is positioned? The TV made EZ kit as a TV plunger spring, would I need a spring if I made my own setup?

What about lock up? Better to make your own kit? Does it matter what TCC solenoid I get? does it matter which pressure switch I get? My valve body only has one pressure swtich on it. I want wire it so I have a 3 way switch - lockup 4th only, lockup off, or manualy 2nd 3rd 4th. What is the vacuum and brake cancel switch for? do i need them?

Thanks

Tv/lockup

I bought the Bowtie Overdrive kit myself. They sent me the kit but the cable was machined to short so they had me do a quick measurement to verify the cable was to short and then they sent me one overnight. I have had no problem with their tv system. As far as the lockup go I just wired mine to lockup in 4th gear only. You can buy a vacuum switch and I have one. I have the part number but it is in the glove box of my car and the car is at the body shop getting a few things repainted thanks to kids with BB guns. They shot my car up at Christmas so my car has paint chips and chips in the windshield now. If you have anymore questions let me know.

I swapped a 200-4r into my El Camino. I need your car's info to make
suggestions. I used stock parts for a 1986 Monte Carlo SS for my
conversion, BTW.

Its acutally going into a 72 nova. 406, holley carb, big cam, heads, 4.10s, 3000 converter.

What is the vacuum swtich for? I dont need it right. same for brake cancel?

I want to wire according to this:

<a href="http://s155.photobucket.com/albums/s286/72nova400/?action=view&current=700R4.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s286/72nova400/700R4.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

doesnt seem to hard.

Another example:

<a href="http://s155.photobucket.com/albums/s286/72nova400/?action=view&current=TH700TCC.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s286/72nova400/TH700TCC.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Theirs no brakelight switch and says vacuum optional, exactly how I want to do it.

I would wire in a brake cancel switch. You want the converter to unlock during braking (especially panic stops). The vacuum switch isn't necessary but is nice to have. It will unlock the converter under hard acceleration (low manifold vacuum).

Agreed--

As to the carb linkage setup, guess it depends on your fabriction skills and shop equipment.

But wouldnt it unlock anyway (having the dash switch for auto 4th lockup) because when slowing down the tranny isnt going to stay in 4th to a stop, it will downshift and the pressure switch will tell it to unlock. Even in a panic stop.

Or is it bad to downshift while the conveter is locked? But wouldnt it happen simultaneously?

Would I need a special spring or anything for the TV valve if I make my own?

With stock linkage geometry and cable, the stock spring should work fine.

Bowtie goes into a lot of detail here, but not being an expert, I can't vouch for its accuracy:
Bowtie Overdrives | TV Made EZ

From what I've read on this board, a person wants pressures to come up as soon as the cable starts to move-- no dead travel.

I have the Bowtie Overdrives lock-up kit. I installed a T56 so if anybody needs it let me know and we can probably work something out. It hooks to the TCC solenoid and a special brake switch to unlock when you push the brake pedal. Worked great for me.:)
