I just got my oil gauge working what should it read when cold and what should if read when warm?it reads around 80 cold

Post your idle pressure cold and hot. The oil pressure should rise from idle right away and a generally accepted value is +10 psi for every 1000 rpm. Factory oil pressure spec was 37psi at 2400 rpm but just about everyone will have different readings.

60/80 psi. cold start is typical. 10/20/30 psi at HOT idle in gear is good. As was said as long as it rises with rpm, all is well. 10/30 oil is all you should need to obtain these numbers
Hot idle is AFTER being driven 20 to 30 minutes on the highway, then coming to a stop.
Hot idle IS NOT as soon as the temp gauge reads 160/180 sitting in the driveway, doing it that way, the coolant may be warm/hot, but the oil is still cool. The oil gets hot from engine load/work.
