Just got my replacement squad after the midnight officer wrecked the 94 crown vic. 05 Impala with what they call a "Police Package" so I'm thinkin great this might have a hopped up 3800, but it appears to have average power. Anyway two knuckleheads held up a car dealership and were spotted fleeing by the first responding car (also a new Impala). The chase was on and lets say that its a good thing the Knuckleheads werent drivin a Turbo Regal cuz the first squad was all over those guys like stink on sh*t. They were in a 98 Lumina so the cars were evenly matched. The new Impalas handle much better than the old crown vics and have a real nice turning radius which allowed me to whip a quick U turn and cut the car off after it dived down an alley tryin to double back. With a lil help from my friends Chevrolet and Motorola two bustouts taken off the streets and nobody seriously hurt. Im wondering if there are any power programers for these cars yet? More timing, more fuel, why not :D

According to the commercials, the 05 Impala's have and available 5.3 (327ci)V8, Im sure the 'police package' included this powerplant.

Yep wrong wheel drive

lyonsd ...Has a lil bit of torque steer when u the tires spin. Virgin....This is for sure the 3800 I really doubt they would give any of us the extra power of the small block. The city is pretty cheap...Our cars are radio delete :( . Im sure if the city would leave out the a/c if wasnt standard. Theres a supplemental owners manual in the glove box that was labled Police Package ---I know it has a big Trans and engine oil cooler but I stopped reading after that.

the new 06 impala is still wrong wheel drive. someone did a test on them, don't remember who it was. some car magazine. i don't remember the exact time it ran but they said it was the fastest 0-60 impala yet, thats going back to the days of the 409's and that era.

thats a good use for a charger! i guess the extra 2 doors do have a use.

We can only hope.

Looks great to me and the horsepower numbers are even better. I would be going thru tires weekly

If you like the Impala you'll love the Charger police package. It posted the best acceleration, top speed and braking in the police vehicle comparisons done by Michigan. Front wheel drive squads just don't do it for me. It throws the handling dynamics off IMO.
