My turn to join the fun

I have wanted a GN for years and back in 2004 I got a 1999 Regal GS to tide me over and that hobby spiraled out of control. Ended up dumping tons of money and time in my GS and got it to about 600whp with a 67mm turbo on it. Well sick of the FWD transmission market I kind of retired once I hit my goal of 11.5 with the car.

So today I got a hold of an pretty ugly but solid 84' T-Type. Drug it home and now the fun begins. Previous owner was in the middle of some work on it and forced to move. So I took on kind of a half assembled mess that I didn't take apart. I have all the service manuals so that will be of great help but there are alot of brackets and hoses to figure out.

For now it sleeps in the shop with my 99.

welcome to the fun for sure... read read read is all i can say the hot air car is a different monster...lol... but good info here

I do need a oil dipstick, where would be the best place to find one of these?

I guess if I was paying attention I would have seen the post 3 down from this one....doh!

Welcome to the fun. Always nice putting together stuff someone else took apart.:D

Looks like a lot of work, my car's all together and it gets my head spinning lol it will be a fun rewarding journey I'm sure!

Going to yank the drivetrain today and double check everything. As luck would have it the factory service manuals came with the car so got all the info I should need for the most part!

Well, pulled the engine/trans today. going to check things over and put it back together. Right now looking like a few coolant hoses to replace, I have neither a trans or engine dipstick. Broken coolant sensor (I think the one for the gauge). Not sure what else at this point. Vacuum lines need some sorting out I think.

congrats. cant wait to start re doing my car... just waitng on a few parts to arrive.

Got the smashed driver door replaced today with one of the cutlass doors that came with the car when I bought it. Had to installed door hinge pin kits and the top hinge was so worn I had to weld aand redrill the hinge. Much better now! But ALOT of parts to swap in the doors. Ugh these doors are complicated.

Dude, I don't know if you remember me but I had a modded '01 GS and bought one or your WildDP manufacturered downpipes (which was impecable work).

My GS has subsequently retired (188k will do that especially on a modded car). I too got tired of the tansverse mounted tranny and have had some other gbodies but recently bought an '84 GN.

Good luck with your T-Type and glad to hear the GS isn't dead. Good to hear from you!
