Mounting K+N filter with IAT

Just ordered a new K+N filter for the GN. I need to mount the IAT sensor in the neck of the filter like my old one. What do you guys usually use to make this hole without screwing up the filter? Is it sturdy enough to simply drill? My old one came with the KB ram air kit and already had the hole pre-drillied.

I just used a drill a bit smaller than the diameter of the mat. That way the mat would screw in tightly.

i know some guys just let the MAT sensor hang free in the eng compartment, or stuff it elsewhere, it doesnt really need to go in the air inlet as the variable is minimal until you reach real extreme temps such as -50 or +200 (guestimate)....heck mine is wired to a 10 k potenciometer that was previously used in setting a variable BLM chip....so now my MAT sensor ALWAYS reads 72 to the computer....

The filter is strong enough to drill, but I did what TD said above, just left it loose. No difference in performance.
