They say she was taking a selfie when she lost control of the bike and hit a fence. One of the wheels from the bike was thrown hundreds of meters from the crash site.

That is a real shame! The only protective gear she had was basically a helmet and maybe gloves. I don't hop on my bike unless I have my armored jacket on and full gear. I grew up riding dirt bikes and have had many a wipe out with no gear. You can be the best rider in the world but that doesn't negate the other factors like someone rear ended you or clipping you by turning into you.
