malfunction code 51

My 87 gn keeps getting a code 51 and idling very rough or going dead and starting back after resetting the computer. the turbo tweak chip is very new so I don't think its that. The ecm is original so I figure its that since a code 51 is primarily ecm or prom related. I just didn't want to buy a ecm if that's not it, anybody experience this?thanks

Maybe its out of gas:biggrin: jk... The ecm is original so it might be time for a new one, fairly cheap and easy to find. I can help you install it if you need. Good luck

Try retensioning all the tangs in the ECM chip socket like in this pic:




If that doesn't work, send me an email with your info and I'll replace the chip to see if that helps.
