ls1

There's an article in the new July 03 GM High Tech mag, p. 11, about the F bodies having LS6 blocks. Two factories made LS1 blocks, one factory had a better process, and GM used the better factory for the LS6 block, and they made extra ones.

So according to the article, 10 to 15% of 2001, and about 25% of 2002 F-bodies have the LS6. Checking the back of the drivers side head will show a cast-in 12561168 for the LS6

Yes, and the LS6 block is supposed to be stronger due to the casting process of the Nemak plant in Mexico, and this block also had more ventilation due to the 28mm hole driled through the center of all 5 bulkheads, close to the crank, for bay to bay breathing.

Also from what I've been told the LS6 block has a better oiling system which adds up to more power!
