Hay guys i am just wondering if it is normal to have a small knock when the engine is cold?:confused:Once the engine is warmed up it's gone:rolleyes:
Then again i don't drive the car a whole lot, maybe that doesn't help!
My car 87 Grand National,stock turbo,23 intercooler,3"downpipe,2800-3000 9"non-lockup trans,GN1 cold air etc:cool:

Is it rod knock or lifters pumping up on start ? I have 20/50 in mine and get a bit of rattle on start up occasionally.

What weight oil are you using ?

Oil

Thank you William
i am using 10-30 oil with Tufoil, oil has about 200km on it
i sounds like the lifters:cool:
Maybe it would help to put bigger injectors and chip since the injectors are stock they were removed and cleaned about a 2 years ago:confused:

Thats what I use here in a warm climate. I've had 3 sets of lifters and the motor rebuilt once and I still get a lifter rattle when I start up occasionally. Not worrying about it anymore, I would skip the 20/50 if your driving in the cold at all.

Cam sensors can give a tick when cool. Wife's car did it for years. Finally swapped it out.
