Ken, TLink hookup question

I grabbed an extra ALDL plug out of the junkyard. I was thinking of tapping into the wires on my current one and place the new one on the passenger side or somewhere where I can have the cable out of the way and not going over the console. This got me to thinking. Instead of splicing in at the ALDL, could I splice at/near the ECM itself and would it have any effect on data rate?

I'd be really careful over by the ECM ... lots of stuff that might be unhappy if you accidentally clipped it or pulled it loose.

You could also just loosen the two screws that hold the ALDL to the bottom of the dash and relocate it ... there's quite a bit of "slack" in the plug wires...
