ignition switch stuck

Hey, the ignition switch on my 87 GN is stuck in the run position. Not due to linkage, and column does not seem loose. It is a tilt column. I can turn it forward to start the car, but will not turn backwards to turn off engine. \anyone?

Had this happen before. The key part will need replacing most likely but you'll need to disconnect the ignition switch at the bottom of the column first. The other possibility is the rack and pinion in the top of the column opposite of the ignition lock. It will sometimes get worn and lock up.

Have you tried grabbibg the column and turning it counter clockwise in park? Always worked for me.
