hydroboost brake conversion

Hi Guys! The controversy on the Powermaster continues. It worked great, but the pump pumps brake fluid under pressure. This pump was built with phenolic vanes, and they wear out because brake fluid has no lubrication. The whole reason Buick used this system, instead of the standard Regal vacuum booster, is because the engine is supercharged. This is the opposite of vacuum, and every inch of vacuum is multiplied by the square inches of diaphragm area to generate pressure against the master cyl. The early G.N.'s came with the hydroboost system and worked great. Although the GN can be converted to vacuum booster and master, this engine @231 c.i. and supercharged pulls little vacuum on it's own. To convert to vacuum, you really need a vacuum pump to bring the vacuum way up. thes pumps are noisy, and not that great. Actually, buying used vacuum boosters, and masters, and putting them on your car, is like buying them at the junk yard, and hoping for the best. Our company, POWER BRAKE SERVICE, in Long Beach, Ca. has been in the brake business for fifty years and has worked on or modified everything imaginable. We have rebuilt many powermasters, we have converted cars to vacuum boosters,(we are a rebuilder), but the very best system is the HYDROBOOST. They came on 83-85 GN's, so they are a proven performer. They run off of power steering pump pressure, and need no vacuum. If you want to launch the car hard, the Hydroboost generates more brake power. as the pump speed increases. This allows the turbo to spool up to 5 lbs. of boost on the line! The car explodes off the line. The hydroboost is so superior to anything else, that big brakes may not be needed except for high speed overuse. Bendix was the original designer of the hydroboost, but sold out to Bosch in 1995. Bosch does not sell to the aftermarket of other warehouses. We have a special contract that allow us to purchase and sell the Hydroboost to the aftermarket. These unit are available new. They can be used with a 1.125" master cyl for outstanding pedal height, and do not require the pedal to be changed. We set them up to bolt right in, and include the hoses to run them. ther is a color photo on our website, powerbrakeservice.net to view it. We are also a Baer and Wilwood distributor, and can design an outstanding package for you. Our ph. 800 504 1060 fx 562 436 4115
