This might be a stupid question but has anyone tried to modify one of these to work a 4 speed auto?

Cant speak on modifying one,

But they use to make them for the 4 speed autos, they were discontinued due to slow sales. Bummer too Cause I think its the best one for our 4 speeds. Looks good too. I shoulda bought another.

You might try ebay or other places online ?

I agree..Bummer! I'll have to have a good look at mine and go from there. They almost look like with a small mod to the plate they might just be able to grab 1st gear.

Has anyone got a 4 speed version? I think they were PN 383-8521.

Quick search through the Hurst site . These may help. I was one the fence whether th do the Lightning Rods or the Vmatic. Came a cross and sweet deal on the LR's and got em. Still love the Vmatic tho!!

I did see that info on Hurst's site and at Summit they also list them as unavailable.

I'm trying to find out how much different the 3 and 4 speed models are. I want to go to a 200 4R but I don't want to have to change the shifter as too. Just too much $$$ considering it's prob going to cost me $3000 just for the trans and TC.

worst case with the 3 speed is you cant drag manual low/1st gear. It comes up so fast in first.

Thanks for link SS, although I think they look a little too "Hi-tech" for a Buick interior, I believe it to be a great concept in both function and for security.
I commend it's creator for it's existance, Great Job Man !

Kevin.

Yeah Kevin,
Most of Kilduff's shifters would look strange in the Buicks. I think he has one that fits under the stock console. I'm sure the top plate would have to be modded tho'. He used to own an 87 T-type but it was stolen from in front of his house. :( There's a Pic of it at the bottom of his site's homepage. After that he started making lockable shifters. I use a Trailer hitch latch type lock on mine that's about impossible to get a cutter on.

Are these no longer available from Hurst? I can't seem to find them anywhere.

B&M owns Hurst now, after they bought Hurst they discontinued some Hurst models as B&M already offered several 4-speed Auto shifters such as Hammer, Mega, Quick Silver, Pro Stick etc..
