Hi guys. I am having trouble with a 1987 olds 442 that I am rebuilding and can't get the 200 4 R to lock up. Its getting the 12 v posative but no ground signal from the computer. I read that the temp sensor, tps and the vhs signal the computer to send the lock up signal. I tested the temp sensor and the TPS and they are in specs. I am not sure how to test the VSS. Any help would be helpfull. thanx Ed:confused:

I moved you to the general section so you'll get an answer. The "how to" section is for posting how you did it stuff.

If you have a scan tool, drive it and see if the ECM is getting a MPH signal. If it is, the VSS is good.

Are you getting any codes? Mine VSS was bad, and I was getting a code 24.
