Heater Question?

When I am driving I feel heat coming out the floor vent even when the heat is turned off. When turned on and I slide the selector to the defrost setting, the flap will activate & close to the floor. However, when I turn it back off (as in no air at all) the floor vent will open back up & then the warm air comes in again.

Is that how it normally is & is there a way to bypass that to keep it close will driving & not actually activating/closing the flap with the switch?

Check the heater value in the water line. It should shut off with the heat off.

the heater shutoff valve is vacuum operated.. make sure the hose going to it is good, and that the valve moves freely.


if it works, just leave the heat on with the temp all the way to cold and the fan on low.. actually, i don't think the heater is ever truly "off" on these cars- the fan is always on the lowest setting at least..

which heater do you have? is it the standard one with the levers or is it the silly digital one?
