Guys,

I use an old school Mazda B2200 to haul parts for my T restoration. I've had it about 15 years and its a great truck. Recently I took it in to get an oil leak fixed, got it back and all was well for about 3 weeks. I decided that if you want something done right, do it yourself. So, I tore the front end off the motor to get to the front seal and this is what I found. Some idiot completely destroyed the front pump cover trying to put a new front seal on. Now I've gotta source a new oil pump to fix this. Question is, you guys think the machined lip inside the cover is necessary - should I just put a new seal in and cross my fingers?
