Sorry if this is a dupe, but found it quite interesting and wondered why these rifles were not part of the Civil War, apparently a 22 shot repeater with no noise!
 
One of the issues was the care of the weapon was more than the average soldier was able to understand. It didn't have the normal smoke sig so it was fairly safe but it wouldn't hold up to what any of the soldiers were dealing with during the war between the states.
