The now-shuttered Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Illinois, will be selling all remaining racing fuel and GIR souvenirs on Saturday, November 13, 2010, from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM. The sale will be hosted rain or shine.
Sunoco 100 octane and 110 octane are available for $5.00 per gallon and a limited amount of Sunoco Racing Methanol will be sold at $2.00 per gallon. All GIR souvenirs, including hats, t-shirts, posters and seat cushions, will be sold at clearance prices. All sales will be cash only and all items, including fuel, will be sold on a first come, first served basis.
Because the racing fuel will be dispensed from the track’s on-site fuel tanks, racers are asked to bring their own EPA/OSHA-approved containers. Large drums, (I.e., 55 gallon barrels), will be accepted.
Don’t bother to contact the track for additional information; no phones are operational and almost nobody works there anymore. However, GIR’s remaining few employees will be on hand to man the pumps.
