gas gauage problem

i have phantom auto meter gauages in my 87 gn. the problem im having is the gas gauage not reading correctly. can any one tell me the steps to take to remove the dash that covers the gauages. i suspect maybe a loose connection? the sending uint has been replaced. thank you for any help you can give me. burke
