So is the only option to replace the rear end? What is the easiest replacement for a stock rear end?

no you dont have to replace the whole rear...you can just replace the posi unit with a new one (that is rebuildable with available parts). Summit has them. I was lookin at the a couple nights ago. They are about $450

easiest is the eaton 28 spline posi , it does require larger side bearings and races , but youd want to run with new ones anyway

you should also pick up a shim kit for the install as the stock cast ones may not be correct on the preload and the backlash (.008)

Thank you much pacecarta. I'm going to drain the fluid and refill without additive and see if that helps next Saturday, last race for my season here in the midwest. I'll get a new unit over the winter and install next Spring after hibernation. Thanks again!
