What is the best way to clean out the fuel tank car has been sitting awhile and the fuel has left brown gunk in the bottom of the tank and what is a good fuel pump to buy fuel pump is shot

Could well be, once the gunk is removed, there'll be rust present. The problem is you can't get to all of the tank bottom, due to the baffles.
We use the replacement tank from Bob's Impalas in AZ. A right price, and fast delivery.
tank pt # is GM307, AIRC.
This is the tank:

Price is way too high.
As for the pump. A REAL Walbro 340 is a popular unit.
A hotwire kit is needed.

Okay thanks so it's probly best to try and get a new one. What fuel pump would ya recommend it's a mostly stock car has a piston enterprises chip in it that's it

I put 12 gallons of White Vinegar in my tank and after a weeks worth of sloshing it around I got 95% of the rust out of it, but I ended up buying a new tank, anyway.

You can save yourself a lot of aggravation buying a new tank.
