fuel sock

I'm currently installing a Walbro 340 fuel pump, and everything was going great until i tried to put the fuel sock on and it does not seem to fit. The fuel pump has a small strainer in the bottom, and it seems like the sock should fit on there but it is too big...what am I doing wrong this time. The fuel sock that came with the kit is green the pictures I have seen look like a white sock is being used on other cars.

I equated this task to stuffing a marshmellow into a piggybank...it'll go, it's just a total PITA to get it there. I had to straighten out the aluminum shaft about 84 times before I got that prick sock on the pump. Push like hell and it'll go....just be sure the sock is pointing towards the p/s or you get to enjoy this task one more time

You did take the red cap off the bottom of the pump, right?
Look inside the opening for the sock. You'll see small steel tabs that grip onto the bottom of the pump.
It will fit snug, but it should fit.
