I just talked to my tranny guy and he told me that he cant figure out what is wrong with my tranny:confused: . He thinks there might be a crack in the case because he puts it together and pressure tests it and it tests fine. When he puts it in the car it "loses pressure" and has inconsistent shifts/ firmness. He wants me to get another 2004r and he will swap my parts over. My first question is do I have to get a certain year tranny? I did a search and they look to be similar but just want to make sure.

Also he said I should get an upgraded servo I have looked and found some but they seem to come with different parts. CK seems to have the best deal but in the picture it doesnt have all the parts that the TCI kit comes with. Just confused on what is needed.

TCI - GM 2004R / 200C

Thanks,
Cory

Did he put a guage on it & check the press?
Make sure the filter isn't sucking air. The filter has to be pushed to the bottom of the pan with the clip on the VB. Make sure of the correct fluid level.
If it does turn out to be the case finding another case shouldn't be a problem.

He said he pressure tested it both times he had it out last week and both times it tested fine, so Im not sure on the filter. Any guesses on what a spent 2004r costs?

I would take the trans somewhere else. Your story sounds exactly like mine a few years ago. The guy had the trans in and out numerous times, each time thinking he fixed it and each time I had to bring it back because it wasn't right. The 'cracked case' was him grasping at straws. He swapped all my parts over to another case and I had the same problems. I had to abandon the $1200 I had invested in him and went to a 200-4R specialist. The new guy repaired it quickly and easily (and for twice as much $$$, but you get what you pay for).

E-mail Chris at CK. He'll let you know what's in his kit and what you need to buy. You may actually be able to get a trans from him, too. I think he'll ship them. My brother and I both have his transmissions in our cars and you cannot go wrong with CK Performance. He makes his own hard parts, is extremely knowledgeable and is just an all-around nice guy.

Good luck.

I am thinking the same thing but its still under warranty so he is doing all of it for free. I figure I'll spend the little bit and get a core 200 to swap the parts over, and if it doesnt work I'll go somewhere else. He has built the tranny before, and worked for the GM proving grounds out here for 10 years. I trust him but he only gets one more shot at it.
