question; is backpressure an important concern in an N/A 6.0L ,LS.

i bought this car,85GN, with a 6.0L in it, 1st impressions was nice. still is!

exhaust is a full 3" from 2 1/4" Y pipe up front, 3"Magnaflow at rear, i noticed the down pipes(NOCATS) was 2 1/4" down into a 2 1/4" single pipe about 6" long, then opened up to the 3" all the way back!

what i'm saying could that small 6" long 2 1/4 pipe cause a restriction and increase BP

Yes it can depending on the power level. Most systems are at least 2 1/2 but I'd prefer a 3" myself along with a set of long tube headers.

well, after spending some time cutting out that short 2 1/4" pipe, and the Y going into a full 3" all the way, i have to say that LSs respond well to relieving backpressure!

response is much better in mid range(2500-3000)rpm,, but really comes to life after 4500rpm, OH YEAH! pulls on top end much better, past 6000rpm.

i do know why guys are loving these engines ,they like most anything you do to them.
