Energy absorbers

Just wondering if I could bang out the energy absorber to the correct length again, some girl backed into my rear bumper the other night cracking the rear filler on the drivers side and pushing the drivers side energy absorber in about 1". Do I need a new energy absorber, or can I take the bumper off and bang it back out to the correct length?

you can bang it back the right way the best way to do it is with a slide hammer.
