Electrical Short

I started having a problem on saturday night with my taillights. When I turn on my headlamps it would blow the fuse for the taillamps. I still have turn signals and brake lights. I traced the wires for the lamps and didn't find any breaks or shorts. I replaced the light switch with and old one and still had the same problem. Any ideas what to look for next.

I'd look at the console light bulb and wiring.

For some reason when mine was shorting out it blew the 20A taillamps fuse and not the 5A in line dash lamp fuse.

Could be your problem....
