I have my eye on a specific autometer egt guage but it only goes up to 1600* , will that be high enough for our cars at the track?
The next step up in the guage goes to 2000* but costs 2x more.

there's a limit to how many guages you can actually read while going down the track. Boost, knock, and oil pressure would be about my limit ! (if that).

most people with an EGT use a portable digital meter with a "peak hold" function, so you can record the highest EGT achieved. Fluke Co and Omega both make good meters for this purpose.

Some data loggers will also capture EGT continuously during a 1/4 run. This is probably the best way to go, albeit at a higher price.

The "Power Logger" from FULL THROTTLE SPEED - Store Front Page , when it gets released, should be a sweet unit.
