I can tell you I once had a 3.5" single exhaust on my T-Type that was so loud that I couldn't stand to drive the car. The muffler shop installed something very similar to the cone type insert you had a link to. I couldn't tell the difference. I ended up buying another exhaust system.

Ditto! Tried one on my 3" single shot exhaust to try and quiet it down, didn't do squat! Put on a Hooker dual system instead.
