Do I remove my EGR valve, what are the pros and cons?

I would want to know if I should remove my egr valve and close it off with an after market block off egr plate? What are the pros and cons, for example is going to affect the idle of the car? Does it matter if I remove the egr valve even thow I drillled a hole in my rjc power plate to use with the egr valve? Does it affect peformance in any way, etc?
