Digital dash does form F to -- no start

This happened to me last week and did not address it. It did it again to day and stranded me at work. 87 T digital with MAFTPRO SD and a hot wired FP. While driving to work this morning on the highway the fuel gauge started going from F to -- . It died at the first light when I got off and would not start. With the key forward it shows F when I crank it it goes to -- . I do not hear the fuel pump turn on when I turn the key forward and I have no pressure at the rail. I put jumper cables on the tank to the frame to see if I could solve the apparent ground issue. That did not work.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do to troubleshoot and or fix this issue?

The ground problem is probably in the sender unit. I had to jumper the sender unit to ground. Same exact symptoms as you described.
