When the cruise is on the check engine light appears. There seems to be no degredation of performance on the motor and the cruise holds. When the cruise is off the light goes out after a few minutes. All vacuum lines appear to be in there place as well. What could be causing this problem?

It would help to know what the code is. Stick a paper in the A and B sockets on the ALDL connector. A is the upper right-most position and B is one to the left. The check engine light will flash.....Ah hell, just read this page :)

It will probably be a oxygen sensor code. After you write down all the codes, disconnect the battery to clear them. Then cause the light to come on again with cruise and see which new code it throws.

Usually when the light comes on, but goes back out, it's the O2 sensor.
