Decided to check the converter to fleplate clearance because of all the thrust bearing failures. Pulled the bolts and had less the 1/8". I used a screwdriver (very little force) and the TQ moved back giving me the necessary clearance. It now easily slides up to the flexplate and back to the distance.
When I reinstalled the trans I did have stator spline wear about 3/4 up the splines. Could this be why the TQ did not slide back easily and is it a problem right now? The TQ is a TCI billet 9x11 and I am using a JW flexplate.
Thanks for any input...Zac
