what does the engine temp or other factors have to be to go to closed loop operation on a stock 84 ecm. i do have a 93 octane chip that tell the ecm what inj. i have. thanks in advance

anyone? im just curious that maybe my engine isn't getting hot enough to get to closed loop. needless to say im trying to get my car dailed in the best i can. would a 160 deg. t-stat cause my ecm to not go to closed loop on a cool night? my car seems to run better during hot days 85 deg and up. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure what else is needed by the ECM, but the oxygen sensor needs to be up to temp (either 650 or 750) before it will work. I have seen where the car will idle and it allows the sensor to cool and the ECM goes back into open loop. Are you operating at relatively low speeds or idling alot? HTH.

I know the ecm needs to see above a certain temputure before it will go into closed loop. I think its 150 degrees but i'm not sure. It also has to see the O2 sensor working.
