chewed rockers

I was pulling apart a rebuilt N/A 3.8L motor for parts, and I noticed something interesting. The rockers are chewed and put metal shavings into the oil, what I believe to be the failure point. I've got some other ones and the holes are loose on the shaft, but evenly worn. These have one size hole bigger then the other. What's the deal with this, I'm gonna try to put together a motor this summer and I don't wanna end up like this motor with metal shavings in the valley.
