X2!!

I had a V2 on my car before I tore it down and even in traffic she never overheated and the car performed flawlessly.

I only sold because I picked up a Cotton's FMIC and a CAS V1 :D

The v2 is good for 9s also, it has minimal pressure drop and dissipates heat great because of the tube/fin core, not sure of the stats on the 475 but I do know its super heavy maybe twice of what the v2 weighs , if your in the 8.80 - 9.50et range your better off with the 475, if your 9.90 to 10.50 and street driving mostly id stick with the v2, I think the 475 is 4.75" thick so your gonna need super fans and a radiator for street driving..Jmo

May I ask what makes you say that the 475 is better suited for a sub 9.50's car, compared to the V2?

I see the 475 as having much more pressure drop across the core than the V2. I haven't seen what types of fins are used on the inside of the core on the 475, but I have used a scope on the CAS V1 and looked at the fin type used on that core and from what I've learned so far, I can see why it performs so well.

Because of the sheer size of the 475, the v2 is relatively small in comparison , I believe the 475 is bar/plate design, not saying the v2 cant handle sub 9s but at that point its blowing hot air.. Hence the birth of the V1 which is similar in dimensions of the rjc

How much does the v2 weigh?

Not sure exactly but its pretty light, I have one in one of my garages I can get to during next week if anyone needs to know.

I would recommend reading up on intercooler design before you equate the size of a horizontal flow IC with superior performance.

The more surface area there is inside the IC charge air passages, the more likely a "boundry layer" of air is to form along the walls, causing a reduction in the effective area of travel, and an increase in friction as the air in this layer is now essentially still or stagnant. This friction is good for thermal efficiency and heat transfer, but bad for preventing pressure drop. More friction=more pressure drop.

When the IC core is large enough to where the boundry layer is formed over a large portion of the core, you remove energy from the air, and the pressure loss increases as well.

To quote www.enginebasics.com ; "This is just one reason why 'bigger' isn't always 'better' "

My V1 weighs 29.5lbs.
My Cottons FMIC with a Spearco core weighs 28lbs.
