Cam Voltage Question

When you have your voltmeter hooked to the blue wire coming from the cam sensor cap (key on, using no jumper wire) what should the voltage read? Mine reads 4.93.

Book says 6-9 volts.

5 may be okay depending upon meter accuracy and what the feed power is on the other wire should be 10 volts from the ECM, and make sure the ground is good at the connector and/or your test point measuring the voltage.

I looked this up 2 times today on vortexbuicks, everytime i came back to tb.com with 2 screens up my computer would lock up. I had to shut down my puter 2 times.

If you venture over to vortexbuicks, search diagrams for ecu, third print shot down shows the power comes in from the coil module at 10 volts.

I got irritated at vortex and tb and my puter, dont know why it kept freezing up, i guess vortex buicks has a few viruses...

HTH, GO find the print at that site, it shows the voltage.

battery is charged and on battery saver while in garage.

Yes it is. On charger while it sits.

Should be a 10 volt feed from the module, I think it's a gray/red wire on the connector, PIN A.

If you don't have that and 6-10 volts out of the sensor on the blue wire you have some problems.

Both voltages should be read to the cam sensor ground if possible, PIN C.
