Calling Caspers Electronics

Good idea. Can't get the damn thing without buying the whole sender. It would be nive if somebody just made the pot.

Should be easy to make one, it's just a 90° swing rheostat with 0 ohms at one end and 90 ohms at the other. Look at this pot, it's got a full travel of 314° with 0 to 250 ohm resistance. Doing the math, that comes out to 72° swing to get your 0 to 90 ohm signal. Just mount the pot to the pump hanger and solder the swing arm to the shaft, should be good to go! Maybe if Casper's won't do it, Razor (Julio) can, he owns "Complete Electronic Service" in St. Pete, FL...

The problem with the pot (GREAT IDEA!) is that the resistance is linear in this unit. Look at the OEM resistor. Resistance is non-linear.

[sarcasm mode on] And we all know how well that worked out, gas tank contents versus gas gauge. [sarcasm off] Seriously, on my car when I fill up the needle goes way past the F, and the tank is half empty by the time the needle shows 3/4. Maybe linear wouldn't be any worse?
