Bolt in cage??

IF the car has a full frame, which the Regal does, they are REQUIRED to be welded to the frame, to be NHRA legal. But more importantly, they NEED to be welded to the frame to make it safe. It is........after all............. YOUR keester that is at stake here.:)

From an engineering standpoint... they could be designed to be bolted... and be just as strong, however.... there is probably no provisions for this in the NHRA rulebook.

weld the bars to the frame and plates to the bars as the come in the car and put the pipe in a pipe, through the plates would be just as strong. Weld thread the plates, weld the nuts underneath also. Use 3/4' grade 8 bolts, its not going nowhere..

Not that i suggest you build one bolt in, but thats the way i would do it.

No, cages are Illegal in street cars up here, it becomes a real sticky issue with insurance companies. For a race car do it the weld in way.
