How do I inspect ball joints?

Usually i get my wife to do it.




I keed i keed. Jack it up, grab the wheel at 12 and 6 and shake.

The stockers had wear inspection points on them.

It's in the service manual as to the inspection procedure.

Otherwise use the 12 and 6 shake and bake procedure. :smile:

How do I inspect ball joints?

make sure you jack it up from the lower control arm before checking. dont jack it by the frame .The suspension has to be loaded while checking. grab tire at 12oclock and 6oclock and move the tire in and out while watching for movement. or put prybar under tire and pry up on it and see if there is any movement. shake side to side also to check the idler arm and center link.
