Has anyone tried American Racer tires (they used to be called McCrearies)? They come in roughly 265/50/15 and have a nice, soft compound. They are also much cheaper than drag radials and are DOT legal (bias ply). I was wondering if anyone else used them.

Yes, I've run them. I went alot of 1.8x 60 fts on them. Probably go 1.7s at a better track. They are better than radials, but not as good as slicks. The best part is that they are cheap to free from most circle track racers. They usually replace them with alittle tread still showing. They do drive poorly, like a slick.

Yes, I use them. Mainly because yes I am an oval track racer. They are made by McCreary. I dunno about them being better than Drag Radials. They ride like crap on the street but they won't get you a ticket.

They work best on a 8.5" wheel.

I've got a ton of them I'd be willing to sell, shipping will suck but, I'm always willing to deal. Most have very good tread depth.
