For those of you interested in weight savings, I just pulled some aluminum brake shoe backing plates from my 84 T-Type parts car. Part #'s 18013077Right 18013076Left Axle code 6TJ-- I have no other knowledge. Anyone know of a company producing stainless front dust sheilds?

Are you sure they are aluminum? I have parted out quit a few turbo cars and I know them backing plates appear the be light but they are steel. If you go back all the way to 78 GM has had a few problems with the type of brakes on G-bodies and there is no way they would have been dumb enough to use aluminum on this part. Try the magnet test to be sure but I think you will find they are steel. As far as the brake shields I have not seen any SS but brand new replacements from GM are galvinized and they look real pretty when everything else is plated and painted. Eric Fisher. PS if by chance they are aluminum can you post some pictures?
