Alternator question...

The voltage light flickers, so I popped the hood, was looking at the alternator and noticed that the connector behind the alt. is blackened... Is that a problem/hard to replace? Checkers carry um?

See it the contacts got damaged. The connector for the idiot light should not look like that unless the alternator is shorting out. If you wiggle the conector does the problem with the volt light go away?

I think Checker's or Napa might have a new plug

Robbie, the part is called a "pigtail" and should be available at any parts store... a rather common failure for a car of this age...

Only two wires, even I could do it...

I tried to follow one of the wire from the back of the "pigtail," any idea where it leads? Thanks for the tip!

I leads up to the dash to light up the idiot light.

So can I splice the old one in or just run the new pigtail?

Just splice it in. If you need help splicing it in let me know.
