air filter cleaning?

I have an old Kenne Bell air filter from one of the "ram air" kits which has been removed except the filter. Does anyone know how your supposed to clean these or am I better off just going and buying a new filter?

Is it a cotton element filter? If so, get a K&N cleaning & oiling kit.
